Reporting toCentre Director
Overall responsibilityTo provide expert employment law advice at our main office in Roath, Cardiff. You may also be required to provide advice at community outreach venues.
DutiesTo provide expert advice in all aspects of employment law, including casework and representation, complementing the help provided by our pro bono employment law clinic
Good knowledge and experience of employment law is therefore essential.
Other dutiesTo undertake other reasonable duties as required by the Centre Director
To co-operate with other staff at Speakeasy Law Centre, playing an active role in the wider team
To attend appropriate training courses and be willing to learn from peers and leaders
To comply with Speakeasy Law Centre’s policies and procedures as contained in the Office Manual, Health and Safety Policy and as per instruction
Essential qualitiesGood knowledge and experience of employment law;
Ability to work independently;
An ability and willingness to work as part of a team, as you will work with a small team delivering debt, welfare benefit and housing advice;
Excellent communication skills.
Preferred qualities and experienceFlexible and able to react positively to change
Experience of the voluntary sector or advice services
Experience of working with vulnerable adults and knowledge of the barriers they faceThe ability to read, write, understand and speak working language in the medium of English and Welsh
Experience of working on the telephone, in an office and as part of a team
Salary & benefits£23-30k depending on qualifications and experience20 days paid annual leave, plus Bank HolidaysEmployer Pension contributions will be paid at 3% or in accordance with legislation
